Mazar is a multiple cannabis cup winner that quickly gained recognition after its introduction in the 1990s. She won 2nd prize at the HTCC (High Times Cannabis Cup) in 1999. Shortly after, she secured 2nd prize at the High Life Cup in 2002 in the Netherlands.

Mazar has incredibly sticky buds, a favorite feature of Indica-dominant Kush varieties from the Mazar-i-Sharif region. These buds are also known for their highly aromatic terpene profile—strong and pungent with a dominant scent of Afghan hash, earthy and piney notes.

Mazar is a medium-sized Indica-dominant cannabis strain with a compact plant and bud structure. Her Indica characteristics are most evident during the growth phase. As soon as she starts flowering, her Skunk characteristics become more pronounced.
She has significantly more stretch than completely pure Afghan Indicas, meaning more buds and bigger buds, which ultimately benefits the yield. When grown naturally, it usually has a Christmas tree-like appearance with heavy side branches. The thick buds may need some support during the end of flowering to stay upright.
The robustness and vigor make Mazar an excellent choice for novice growers. It is a true Afghan hash plant with high potency and extreme resin production.
During the growth phase, it can have a short, compact structure with very fat dark green Indica leaves. Some phenotypes have a slightly more open hybrid structure, with fan leaves that can become quite large.
The most compact Indica-dominant phenotypes are perfect for SOG setups. The thick branches, fast flowering phase, and large compact dominant main bloom ensure you can achieve very high yields. The plants leaning more toward a hybrid structure (with a little more Skunk genetics) can also be grown perfectly in SCROG setups. You can use these different growing techniques to increase your yield.
