Description
Origin and Genetics
Kosher Kush is a heavily indica leaning cannabis strain, widely considered to be a unique phenotype derived from OG Kush. Although its full genetic background remains somewhat mysterious, it’s generally believed to be the result of crossing OG Kush with an unidentified indica variety. This blend of classic OG Kush heritage and a secretive indica lineage is what gives Kosher Kush its powerful, deeply relaxing, and sedative qualities.
Kosher Kush is predominantly 70% Indica / 30% Sativa, known for its heavy, relaxing effects that are typical of strong indicas. Its genetics are derived from pure indica lineage, which is evident in its ability to produce a deeply sedative and calming experience.
Flavor and Aroma
The strain will likely have earthy, piney, and pungent flavors with a strong, mostly indica body high. The cannabis flower, cannabis concentrate, and terpenes include Nerolidol and Terpinolene, which are known for their fatigue, muscle spasm, and stress-relieving properties.
Effects and Medical Uses
The effects of Kosher Kush strain are primarily focused on deep physical relaxation and mental calm. As an indica dominant strain, it is known for its sedative properties, making it ideal for relieving stress, pain, and insomnia. Users often report a sense of euphoria followed by a calming body high that makes it perfect for unwinding at the end of the day.
In addition to its physical effects, the strain can also induce mild cerebral euphoria, helping to uplift mood without causing too much mental stimulation. This balanced experience makes the strain popular for both medicinal and recreational use.
Awards and Recognition
Kosher Kush is one of the most decorated indica strains in modern cannabis competition history, earning consistent top placements across multiple international events.
At the Spannabis Champions Cup, it secured 3rd Place in Hydro Indoor (2009) and 2nd Place in Hydro Indoor (2012), highlighting its strong performance in controlled hydroponic systems.
Kosher Kush truly cemented its legacy at the High Times Cannabis Cup, where it dominated the Indica category with 1st Place victories in 2010, 2011, and 2012. It later added another podium finish with 3rd Place Indica in 2014, further demonstrating its longevity, stability, and elite genetic profile.
These repeated wins underscore Kosher Kush’s reputation for potency, terpene richness, and championship-level consistency.
Cultivation and Germination
As a feminized strain, Kosher Kush guarantees reliable and consistent yields for growers. Its rich lineage makes it a favorite among both medical and recreational users who seek deeply relaxing, full body effects combined with strong potency.
Although Kosher Kush may have slight sativa influences when crossed with other strains, like in Kosher Kush x Tangerine, it remains predominantly indica in both structure and effect. The strain’s indica nature provides full body relaxation without overwhelming cerebral stimulation.
It is important to germinate your Kosher Kush seeds carefully if you want to have a healthy harvest from day one. Although there are several methods to germinate our Feminized cannabis seeds, at Blimburn Seeds, we recommend our customers to follow our easy and simple technique.
Before removing our Kosher Kush seeds from their packaging, remember that cannabis seeds are alive and delicate. Hands can be full of bacteria that can easily infect seeds and ruin the germination process.
Set Up Your Germination Station: Begin by moistening two paper towels with room temperature water. Lay one paper towel on a plate and spread the seeds on it, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Place the second paper towel on top of the seeds, and make sure to remove any excess water from the plate. Cover the setup with another opaque plate and store it in a warm, dark location.
Monitoring: Make sure paper towels are still moist by checking every 4–6 hours and spraying room temperature water. Typically, germination should occur within 24 to 120 hours. Once the seeds have sprouted tap roots, plant them with the roots facing down and cover with about 2 cm of soil. Remember to water the soil regularly by spraying to keep it moist. It may take up to two weeks for the plants to start growing.
