Origins and Characteristics

Emerging from Thailand, Purple Thai is one of the oldest native cannabis strains. In its homeland, it can reach heights of up to 4 meters, featuring slender leaves and long conic flowers adorned with lengthy hairs. Two distinct phenotypes exist: one displays a striking purple hue on both leaves and flowers, while the other showcases dark green foliage covered in trichomes.

Purple Thai delivers a potent sativa high characterized by a powerful psychedelic wave of euphoria. The flowering phase should be initiated after 3–4 weeks of vegetative growth.

This variety thrives under SCROG and SOG systems, allowing the plants to fully develop their potential. It can be grown in both hydroponic and soil setups. Cooler temperatures toward the end of the grow cycle often enhance the plant’s coloration, turning it more violet or even blue. Indoors, mature plants can reach heights of 80–90 cm, producing heavy, dark purple buds with orange hairs.

Growers can expect a yield of over 500g per square meter indoors and up to 1kg per plant outdoors, depending on environmental factors such as temperature and soil quality.
